The Power of A Single Penny

Boxhead Plastics is a non-profit social enterprise that locally collects, recycles, and remanufactures scrap plastic car bumper bars. This important environmental work relies on the support and donations of amazing people like you.

Have you ever donated to a charity before? Perhaps it was a memorable experience, or maybe it is still an ongoing charity event. Regardless, if you look back to that time, know that you made a big difference and contributed toward meaningful positive change.

Boxhead Plastics, founded in 2020, thus far has been funded by our founder Bec Healy, however, recently we have started fundraising and accepting donations from our supporters to help increase our efforts of collecting, recycling and repurposing scrap plastic car bumper bars; keeping this waste plastic out of landfill and our bushlands.

Check out our fundraising page and see what you think!

What is fundraising and why do people donate?

Fundraising can be carried out by NGOs, foundations, associations, collectives, or individuals and is the process of gathering voluntary contributions of money or other resources in order to be able to implement a project or progress a charitable purpose; either social, economic or environmental.

There is great power in giving back to the community and, even the smallest donation is powerful enough to make you feel that you have accomplished something grand. This is because when you donate, you know that your money is being used for a greater purpose. It can be seen as one of your values.

In fact, the United Brain Association 2020,states that “the psychological events that take place when giving have some very impressive results for your own personal mental health“. Additionally, children can learn about the concept of generosity through donating. As children grow, learning this concept from an early age can develop their personalities for the greater good, inspired them and others to be a part of positive change.

If you are donating, how does one pick a charity?

Many charities exist out in the world, so how do you pick one to support?

  • Start with finding a cause that you can relate to or resonates with. Perhaps you care for the environment as much as we do? Being able to relate to a cause gives you the motivation to help.
  • Researching into those charities can help with choosing your ideal charity and cause. Boxhead Plastics’ website has everything you need to learn more about us and determine if it’s the right place for you to donate
  • Be sure that there is transparency on where your money is going, can you acccess statistic? Get involved with the charity? Become a member? or access impact reports? Make sure your money is having the impact you what it to have
